What is Engineering Plastics?

Engineering Plastics. It is a group of plastics that have undergone structural modifications to achieve properties of plastics suitable for engineering applications such as strength, toughness, corrosion resistance, fire resistance, heat resistance and high impact resistance, etc. They are utilized in special applications including the replacement of metal materials such as gears in auto parts, electrical appliance parts, computer parts and more. This category of
plastics is classified as high-value materials. Examples of engineering plastics include PP, ABS, ASA, PA6, PA66, PC / ABS, PC / ASA, PC, PMMA, PBT, etc.

Engineering plastics come in various types, each with its unique properties and applications. Some common types include:

PA6 (Nylon6)

This is a type of engineering plastic known for its high strength, toughness, excellent elongation, and resistance to deformation. It is suitable for applications requiring high mechanical stress, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and heat resistance.

PA66 (Nylon66)

It shares similar properties with PA6 but is more ductile and heat-resistant. Additionally, it features a smoother surface, better resistance to abrasion, and improved chemical resistance.

ASA Compounds

ASA is resistant to bending forces, weathering, sunlight, color fading, cracking, and corrosion.


PC/ABS is new material obtained from this blend that exhibits excellent mechanical properties and high heat resistance similar to PC. It also shares the ease of molding process similar to ABS or has excellent color stability properties. Additionally, it possesses outstanding mechanical properties, resistance to weathering, and high-temperature resistance.


Engineering plastics in the polyester group exhibit outstanding long-term heat resistance, capable of dissipating heat more effectively than conventional plastics, up to 3-5 times. They possess high heat resistance, making them strong, resilient, and able to withstand high-impact forces. Additionally, they are resistant to chemicals and weathering, and serve as electrical insulators even in humid conditions.


PET-G is a type of thermoplastic that results from modifying PET homopolymer through a polymerization process to
become a copolyester. This modification is designed to enhance the properties of PET, making it more suitable for a wider range of applications.
