THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER
THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER
We supply thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) for various industrial applications including wire and cable industries and rubber products used with machinery. Our range of thermoplastic elastomers includes TPE, TPV, TPO, and TPU.
Thermoplastic Elastomer type
What is Thermoplastic Elastomer?
Resulting from the blending of thermoplastics with rubber, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) represent a novel material that amalgamates the characteristics of both plastic and rubber. This innovative material exhibits elastic properties akin to rubber at operational temperatures, while being processable using the same machinery employed for shaping plastics. Furthermore, TPE is thermoplastic and recyclable.
Property
As a result of the blending of thermoplastics and rubber, TPE exhibits the desirable properties of both materials. Furthermore, it demonstrates excellent chemical resistance and weather resistance.
Flexible
Possesses rubber-like flexibility and mechanical properties
Easy to mold
Using plastic processing methods such as injection or extrusion molding
Recyclable
Material can be recycled
Chemical and environmental resistance
Can withstand a wide temperature range, approximately -30°C to 140°C
Advantages compared to rubber.
1. Can be processed using plastic molding techniques such as injection molding, extrusion molding, and blow molding.
2. Requires less production time
3. Requires less energy for production
4. No need for a curing process.
5. It can produce products with a wide variety of colors.
6. It can perform over-molding with other types of plastics.
7. It can be recycled
Types of thermoplastic Elastomers.
TPE - THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER
It possesses resistance to discoloration and abrasion, making it suitable for various industries such as footwear components, pen grip covers, and toothbrush handles.
TPV - THERMOPLASTIC VULCANIZATE
TPV is used in the electrical and cable industry, machinery, and is popularly used as automotive components such as boots/bellows and air ducts under the hood.
TPO - THERMOPLASTIC OLEFIN BASED
TPO has moderate to good mechanical properties, is easily moldable, and performs well in outdoor applications (if anti-weathering agents are added to the material). It is used to replace rubber components in automotive part manufacturing.
TPU - THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE
TPU is resistant to abrasion, scratching, and tearing, while also offering clarity and flexibility. It has the ability to bond when heated, strength, and flexibility even at low temperatures. Additionally, it is difficult to mark, exhibits oil resistance, tackiness, vibration reduction, and biocompatibility.
